Canon’s S900 is the fastest consumer A4 photo ink-jet printer With Driver Download Link

by on Apr.06, 2011, under CANON, Computer, Download, Hardware, Inkjet, Printer, Printer Product, Printer Technology

Canon’s S900 is the fastest consumer A4 photo ink-jet printer available. But is there a price to be paid for all that speed?

Canon’s S900 (A4) and wide carriage (A3+) S9000 photo ink-jet printers represent Canon’s third generation of dedicated photo-quality ink-jet printing solutions for the consumer market.

After being left behind by Epson’s superior photo ink-jet offerings for several years, Canon introduced the BJC-8200 Photo in 1999. A brand new 1536 nozzle 1200dpi print head, combined with reformulated inks, plus the introduction of Canon’s Photo Paper Pro super glossy media, signalled Canon’s intention to regain its photo quality lead.

Descendant of a flawed gem

The BJC-8200 was a slightly flawed gem. We marvelled at its ability to hide dot grain and deliver images that were not easy to distinguish from traditional photos. Ink costs were kept low through the use of separate ink tanks for each colour (click here for a DPN investigation into ink-jet running costs). However, the colour balance in BJC-8200 prints wasn’t quite right and black density was considered a bit weak.

To its credit, Canon recognised the deficiencies of the 8200 and when the S800 arrived, wider gamut inks were introduced for both printers, old and new. If you have a BJC-8200, you can use the S800’s new BCI-6 generation inks, instead of the old BCI-5 8200 inks. A revised BJC-8200 printer driver for use with the new BCI-6 inks is available for download from Canon’s Web site. BCI-6 inks continue to be used by the S900 and S9000.

Canon’s S800 dealt with most of the BJC-8200 faults and was widely viewed as the benchmark photo ink-jet printer. It was also clearly the fastest photo ink-jet printer, thanks to its 1536 nozzle print head, faster processing and faster paper handling. Resolution was also increased from 1200x1200dpi to 1200x2400dpi with the S800. The S900 and S9000 use exactly the same print heads and print at up to 1200x2400dpi.

New features to add

Canon didn’t rest on the S800’s laurels for long.  Epson had already introduced borderless printing and it’s no surprise to find this included in the new S900, as well as the new S820D and S9000. Canon also decided to make the S900 faster still. It achieved this by doubling the print head nozzle count again to a remarkable 3072. That the S900 and S9000 can print photos as much as four times faster than an Epson 890/895 is, therefore, no surprise.

More showroom appeal

Canon has also simplified and improved the printer driver and for the first time there is continuous ink level monitoring. Elsewhere, the physical design of the S900 exhibits a lot more showroom appeal than its predecessors.

So, for the same money as an S800, you get a sleeker looking machine, twice as much print speed, borderless printing and an improved printer driver. But is this enough to keep Canon’s competitors at bay?…

Canon Pixma MX360 Inkjet Office All-In-One With Driver Direct Download

by on Mar.17, 2011, under All In One, Computer, Hardware, Inkjet, Printer, Printer Product, Printer Technology

February 18, 2011 Canon Pixma MX360

MX360

The Canon Pixma MX360 Inkjet Office All-In-One ($79.99 direct) is a good low-priced MFP (multifunction printer) for a home-business owner who wants to connect a printer directly to his or her PC. It prints, copies, scans, and faxes, and has an automatic document feeder (ADF). Above-par text quality, and solid graphics and photos round out the picture.

The 7.8 by 18.1 by 16.4-inch (HWD) MX360 weighs 18 pounds has rounded corners and white sides. The ADF and input tray on top are surrounded by a black beveled strip that gives the front panel–which holds the display, alphanumeric fax keypad, and a number of function buttons—an upward tilt.
The MX360 is slightly more basic than the Canon Pixma MX340 ($99.99 direct, 4 stars) that we reviewed last spring. It lacks WiFi and Ethernet connectivity. It has no media-card slots—which may be just as well, as you can’t preview photos on the one-line monochrome text display. It does have a port for a PictBridge-enabled camera, or a USB key (which you can scan to, but not print from).

Canon Pixma MX410 Reviews

by on Mar.15, 2011, under CANON, Computer, Hardware, Printer, Printer Product, Printer Technology

PIXMA MX410

PIXMA MX410

The good: Inexpensive; includes auto-document feeder; robust software suite; 1.8-inch LCD; Wi-Fi.

The bad: Lacks media card reader; slow output performance.
The bottom line: The Canon Pixma MX410 isn’t the fastest printer in its image class, but its auto-document feeder, wireless connectivity, and the comprehensive Canon software suite earn this multifunction printer our recommendation for light to moderate monthly output.
The Canon Pixma MX410 is a worthwhile all-in-one solution for people who need an output solution for intermittent monthly use to print out boarding passes, office documents, or occasional snapshot photos. Its dual-ink cartridge bay limits its output performance so we don’t recommend it for photo-specific use, but you’ll certainly be satisfied with the Pixma’s graphic and text quality. Add extra features like wireless connectivity, an auto-document feeder, and Canon’s exclusive HD Movie Print that lets you pull and print still photos out of Canon compatible HD video cameras, and this $100 device is more than worth its price.

The 10 Printers that Work with Apple iOS 4.2 AirPrint

by on Mar.02, 2011, under Computer, Hardware, Operating System, Printer, Printer Product, Printer Technology

iOS4.2 PrinterAirPrint, one of the eagerly anticipated features of Apple’s iOS 4.2, which launched earlier today, lets iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users easily print documents or photos over Wi-Fi to a printer connected to the same LAN as their device without needing to use other software or apps. The catch is that, at launch, AirPrint only supports printing to 10 select HP printers.
Here is the full list of printers supported by AirPrint: HP Photosmart eStation, HP Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One, HP Photosmart Premium e-All-in-One, and HP Photosmart e-All-in-One, HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-All-in-One, HP ENVY100 e-All-in-One, HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf, HP LaserJet Pro CM1415f, and LaserJet Pro CP1525. We’ve had a chance to look at some of these models.
The HP Photosmart eStation ($399; look for our review soon) has a 7-inch touch screen that detaches from the printer to function as the printer’s controller as well as working as an e-reader and a basic tablet device. From the Zeen (HP’s name for this Wi-Fi-enabled controller), you can order Nook e-books from Barnes & Noble and read them on screen. There’s also a Web browser, a Facebook browser, HP gallery, and more. It’s Android 2.1-based, but you can’t run Android apps, only HP Web apps. We tried AirPrint out on the eStation, and it worked swimmingly.

Original VS Refill Cartridge For Ink Jet Printer

by on Feb.24, 2011, under Computer, Hardware, Inkjet, Printer, Printer Product, Printer Technology

Competition between the original with Refill, Recycle, and Compatible Cartridge is not a secret anymore. This is evidenced everytime we buy a printer, especially if we buy the official didealer sure we get the notification that “warranty will not apply if using a cartridge in addition to Original”. So going forward if by chance we Printer Cartridge damaged and using non-original, then came to the authorized service center, then the printer warranty does not apply anymore, although still within the warranty period and will not cost you a pretty little, but the damage may also be due to mechanical The printer is not working or because of other things that had nothing to do which is caused by the cartridges, but these have become the rule in most Authorized Service Center ..
