The Canon Pixma MX360 Inkjet Office All-In-One ($79.99 direct) is a good low-priced MFP (multifunction printer) for a home-business owner who wants to connect a printer directly to his or her PC. It prints, copies, scans, and faxes, and has an automatic document feeder (ADF). Above-par text quality, and solid graphics and photos round out the picture.

The 7.8 by 18.1 by 16.4-inch (HWD) MX360 weighs 18 pounds has rounded corners and white sides. The ADF and input tray on top are surrounded by a black beveled strip that gives the front panel–which holds the display, alphanumeric fax keypad, and a number of function buttons—an upward tilt.
The MX360 is slightly more basic than the Canon Pixma MX340 ($99.99 direct, 4 stars) that we reviewed last spring. It lacks WiFi and Ethernet connectivity. It has no media-card slots—which may be just as well, as you can’t preview photos on the one-line monochrome text display. It does have a port for a PictBridge-enabled camera, or a USB key (which you can scan to, but not print from).

The bad: Slow print speed; ink expensive to replace; lacks Ethernet, LED display, and memory card reader.
The bottom line: If you’re shopping for a sub-$100 multifunction printer for intermittent use in your home, the Canon Pixma MP495 will meet your needs. It prints, scans, and copies documents, and the integrated wireless print server means you won’t have a bundle of cables tangling up the office. We have a few flaws to nitpick, but otherwise Canon scores with the Pixma MP495.
The cost of All-in-One (AIO) printers is falling drastically, and the Canon Pixma MP495 is one of the first to break triple digits with the $80 Pixma MP495. The device can print, scan, and copy wirelessly with the help of its 802.11b/g wireless feature, and we’re also a fan of its glossy black executive aesthetic. Granted, the print speed needs a speed boost, and the lack of an LCD screen on the front panel became irritatingly apparent during our lab testing, but we think it’s a worthwhile tradeoff for $80. Amateur photographers and business professionals will get more mileage out of the step-up models, but the MP495 delivers adequate results that meet the needs of the casual printer user.

Epson WorkForce 520 Review & Driver Download

Epson WorkForce 520The good: Excellent output quality; fast output speeds; office-friendly features including auto document feeder, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet networking.
The bad: Lacks PictBridge/memory card reader; mediocre photo print quality.
The bottom line: The Epson WorkForce 520 isn’t ideal for photo printing or graphics-heavy documents, but this all-in-one device delivers office-capable features like an auto document feeder and multiple connection options at an effective price. For light-duty office work, the Epson WorkForce 520 is a solid choice.
The $130 Epson WorkForce 510 is a direct replacement for the WorkForce 310 we reviewed last year, but it adds wireless printing for the same price. The 510 isn’t perfect, and this certainly isn’t a device for high-volume photo prints, but its fax and copy functionality in addition to a 30-page auto document feeder (ADF), wireless printing, Ethernet networking, and a five-ink cartridge bay earn the WorkForce 510 our recommendation for a small office with light printing duties.
